Old septic tank uncovered Cleaning footings

Start of project February 19, 2008

Uncovering existing septic tank. Tank will be pumped, cover broken and filled with pea gravel. Cleaning footings after backhoe has dug them. All roots, and loose material is removed.

Exterior and interior walls are framed March 14. Starting the shear wall construction. As specified by the engineer, we are using 3/8" OSB. The shear wall nailing varies in accordance to what is specified by the engineer. This is the end of week March 14. We lost a day and half to rains. March 17 the shear walls front and back are complete except for nailing. Backhoe is digging footings for deck and porch. We are also installing water lines and power conduit from the well.

I forgot to include this picture of Angel, my dog. She makes sure that everything is going well. Friday the 21st. Trusses arrive from Marysville to the job site. The trusses are so tall that the top portion will be placed later as a separate truss.

March 28. Side view of attic trusses. I designed this house with attic trusses as a way to reduce construction costs. Once the attic trusses are in place, the upper floor, side walls and roof for the second floor is framed, saving time and money. Another picture of the upstairs showing the attic trusses. End of the week, electric panel has been set, stairs built and trusses completely in place.
