SKYLIGHTS
Skylights greatly aid the lighting of a home. Used in the right places, they can make an otherwise dark room into an airy, light, and pleasant place to be in. I prefer Velux Skylights in an area where ventilation is needed. Where a great deal of light is desired, I prefer to install a skylight which has a "prismatic" lens. Solar Optics, as shown below, constructs such a skylight.

VENTILATED SKYLIGHTS
 Velux Corporation makes a very high quality skylight. You can use a simple fixed skylight, or a more complex skylight that can be opened for ventilation. In addition, you can add sunscreening as the the diagram illustrates.

PRISMATIC SKYLIGHTS
 Sunoptics, Inc. constructs a skylight that has a prismatic lens. This tends to increase the amount of light entering into a room.The cut-a-way shows one of their models which stops heat from entering into a room.
